does anyone have a link to a reasonably reputable site that can give an indication on the effects of this for different countries/regions? i know that it cannot be accurate but there must be something that gives a regional outlook and or even an idea of what happened in the last el nino.

More rain along the west coast of the Americas, less rain along the east coast of asia. Probably droughts, crop failures, and some starvation in SEA area. Better harvests in the Americas, along with milder winter.

Fishing is fucked along the west coast of the Americas for the year, tho.

NOAA remains the best source still, https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/precip/CWlink/MJO/enso.shtml . They have a good page there with information more accurate than commercial news.

You don't need to predict. Look at the news for the last months.
