Every single Youtube recommendation for the past few days has been game X with DLSS5 on and it's not even about cranking it up to 11 for comedic effect anymore

and in every comment section, brain geniuses trying to prove how it totally makes the lighting more accurate (in Super Mario Odyssey because the concept of stylized art is completely foreign to these fools)

just wait until we get DLSS6. It's going to be a 90% decrease in performance and it's going to sloppify every individual pixel

I've seen people actually start to like it so rip everything I guess. Did Marx predict people and their slop addiction?

A video showing off ludicrously modded Minecraft gameplay with ray-traced lighting, photorealistic water, 4k textures, actual physics and one of those mods that make the world not blocky is at least impressive to look at on a purely technical level because it's all a "real" simulation running on someone's machine. AI hallucinated graphics just don't mean anything to me

There’s far too many g*mers out there who want everything to be photorealistic gritty ultrarealism, sometimes it’s an artistic choice, I’ve never even played Minecraft and a photorealistic Minecraft is both unappealing as a concept and something that completely misses the point to me.

Just let people enjoy things that aren’t realistic-looking, Wind Waker was not in fact bad because it had cel-shaded graphics.

Telling YouTube that you're "not interested" does work, but it's somewhat tedious. If that's worth the effort to you depends on how you use YouTube, basically.

Cat is really out of the bag and we really can't stop it. I have found that the technology has some really good applications in making some old games look better.

Here is Gran Turismo 4 as an example.

This situation would be a lot different if the tech itself was open source and the model weights, source code and training data was made public. There is a reason Nvidia lost a lot of ""value"" in market cap when Deepseek was released

A reminder to always place your frustrations towards capitalism and not the tech itself.

Surprisingly, many of the gooners don't seem on board.

It's not that surprising. The hyperrealistic AI filter really doesn't work with games with anime aesthetics and makes everyone look much older. If it instead made every woman's skin smoother and gave them pornstar makeup and bigger boobs they'd love it
