Gates of Heaven is a song about hypocrisy in religious organisations and institutional abuse in Ireland. Andrew wrote the song while reading a book called ‘Republic of Shame’ by Caelainn Hogan. Many victims of clerical abuse in Ireland have been failed by the church and state and still await justice.
