My current daily watch has been The Great North. I started watching it with my daughter, who loves Bob's Burgers, when it first was released but she did not care for it. A few months ago she was telling me about this great show from the Bob's Burgers people... Yeah, The Great North. Anyway, real good show. It shows a much different family dynamic than Bob's Burgers.

As for current stuff, i am watching Lanterns.

Silo Season 3. It's been great.

Wife stopped watching because she thinks it was too depressing.

Nothing much else except Conan O'Brien Must Go, but that's kinda second screen material.

I’ve been binging The Pitt; I think I’m 3 episodes deep on Season 2. It’s phenomenal.

Lanterns is also Outstanding

Season 3 of Silo is the best season yet I think.

Dark Matter is super entertaining. Much better than the book, which I actually thought was not great.

I’m binging the entire series of Babylon 5. I’m two eps deep into season 2. So far, I would not recommend it. My biggest peeve is that their security is so bad it causes half the problems in the show. Then it gets resolved and everybody glazes the chief security officer. The aliens are a bit one dimensional but the interactions are good. I like the steady critique of capitalism. I think the long arc is getting into swing too.

Of late I watched Star City which is a spinoff from For All Mankind but set in the USSR. It takes a while to get going but the last few episodes of the first season were great.

I also watched Platonic which is an easy, fun end of day watch. Some stupidity in season 2 but forgiveable.

Lanterns (HBO)

Ignore any reviews you’ve seen online. It’s a great show so far and if you have any interest, it’s worth your time to watch the first episode at least.

Just finished the second season of 100 years of Solitude. I can't believe more people aren't talking about it! It's beautifully shot, masterfully acted and a faithful, worthy adaption of a masterpiece of literature.

Watching old trailer park boys episodes that are pretty funny but also pretty one note. Saw the first couple episodes of widow's bay that was pretty good, I'll probably watch the rest of the season.

Recommendations: widow's bay, AEW wrestling, space ghost: coast to coast

Working my way through Dr. Stone, just finished Vox Machina S04 and I do recommend.

I've committed to the first season of Bosch, after flirting with it for a while. I initially wasn't sure because I'm not a big fan of American police procedurals, but this one has a bit of a noir feel which drew me in. Then I read a Guardian review which described it as "paint-by-numbers" and I started second-guessing myself, until I heard a football journalist who works for The Guardian randomly recommend it on a post-World Cup episode and decided it was a sign to give it a try.

So far it is quite good. Definitely very formulaic and clichéd, but I'm not sure I really want experimental or groundbreaking in this type of genre. Something that feels familiar is actually the vibe I think I was looking for when this show appeared on my radar. I can just watch an episode here and there and not get too invested.

Reacher: Season 4 - I've enjoyed this season so far, about as good as season 1, and better than season 2 and 3. The side characters are definitely better than those of other seasons.

The Gentlemen: Season 2 - Only a couple episodes in so far. Gonna binge some more tonight. Glad this show came back, and Guy Ritchie returned to direct/write some of the episodes.

Lantern - Entertaining show. It seems like it's slowly building up to explode into something really good. We'll see.

Lioness: Season 3 - Decent enough season, if you can look past a bit of right-wing propaganda. I enjoyed the first season much more than the current one, but i'll withhold final judgement until i've seen the remaining episodes.

The Venture Bros. It's such a well-written show thanks to only having had two writers in its entire 7 season run. There's something about it that makes it infinitely rewatch-able. The only complaint I have about it is that it was canceled too early.

Don't really have much TV time in the summer but I've almost been keeping up with Lanterns, President Curtis and Strange New Worlds.

President Curtis has been a completely unexpected blast. I think part of the charm is that it is a really fun take on the Presidency that comments on trump without ever even alluding to him. Throw in some decent dialogue and fun ideas and I'm sold. (Admittedly, I am a historical politics junkie so a lot of the references feel aimed directly at me.)

Lanterns was a surprise. Buddy whom I trust recommended it, despite both of us being burned out on super heroes, and goddamn, he was right.

And Strange New Worlds... Man, they're just having an absolute blast and I'm here for it. Long live silly Trek!

Finally finished Six Feet Under. Seasons 3 and 4 were such a slog but season 5 was a really good piece of HBO TV. Curiously enough I remembered last episode as an emotional high point that made me cry but it landed flat time (that is I cried just a little bit). Maybe that’s because it was centred around the youngest of the main characters while the rest of the season was about middle aged people trying to figure out their lives while being expected to have their shit together. I can relate to this being kind of hard.

Ludwig is a joy but I feel season 2 should have increased the stakes rather than becoming cozy detective drama. Still very enjoyable but I feel catfished.

I finished rewatching Dark Matter last night, because when I peeked at S02E01, I realized I couldn't remember what happened in S01.

I'm rewatching Scavenger's Reign, for the same reason--couldn't remember what happened, and I'm short on things to watch rn.

Being further disappointed in ST:SNW

I finished Platonic this week, it was okay for what it is. I'm always surprised when I like Seth Rogan in something.

Here's the wildcard, I'm watching The Danny Thomas Show/Make Room for Daddy. It's a trip looking back at 50s TV. Some of the jokes still land, but there's a lot of "cringe" 50s women-as-homemaker tropes, which the women DO pushback at a bit, which surprised me. I'm old, but I'm not old enough to have watched this, not even in reruns.
