Define "necessary". Define "by law". The pushers for proof-of-age already say it's anonymous – but it can't be.

As a US American with a social security number: please give us them eIDs.

I want a cryptographic key card that can be used to prove my identity in a way that's not vulnerable to replay attacks. I'm tired of my identity being stolen by someone who buys my data off the darknet, which is sufficient for someone to "prove" that they're me and then take out a credit card in my name.

Obviously this should be implemented with a way that's good for privacy, but the current system of KYC photos is a fucking nightmare
