So macrotransactions now?
Like no shark cards? No way.
You are thinking of GTA Online.
Ooooh ok, so that's how they'll add all the microtransactions.
Yeah basically. But at this time we don't know if GTA Online 2 (if they call it like that) will be part GTA 6 or a separate product this time. I hope so, because Rockstar treated both separately and the Online part needs Anticheat, while single player does not. Also it might not be shark cards this time, my prediction is a subscription model.
See guys, it's a totally different game! Even though it uses the same engine and all of the same assets!
Whats your point? GTA Online is a different game than GTA 5. One is an MMO as a live service game, the other is a single player campaign with story. Just because a game uses same engine and shares assets, does not make it being the same game. Lots of games do that, that is totally normal.
GTA Online started as the multiplayer component of GTA V, so when it launched in 2013, you had to own GTA V to play it.
I know, but its a completely different genre and not really the same game anymore. GTA Online is not just a different game mode, its a different game that runs. It had its own monetization and updates. GTA Online is basically its own game trapped in the main menu of GTA 5, like a launcher that bundles multiple games from the same series into one. That's why I believe the next iteration will be separated. Rockstar didn't even mention the online part yet.
My previous prediction before the reveal was, that GTA 6 will have little expensive DLCs day 1, so it can be sold at 70 or 80 Dollars. Well, it didn't happen, but the Premium version is kind of a DLC. So I was not really wrong. I hope we get proper DLCs for the single player campaign a few years later, but I doubt it.
