Members of Congress are being urged to investigate President Donald Trump’s plan to import hundreds of thousands of metric tons of foreign beef in a bid to lower grocery store costs, amid growing frustration from farm-state lawmakers and the nation’s embattled ranchers at the proposal.

Under the plan, the administration would allow up to 300,000 metric tons of lean beef trimmings into the U.S. tariff-free from a still-unspecified source country for a 90-day period beginning September 1—which Trump said would then be sold “at 25 percent below current market prices."

“Congress needs to have an emergency hearing on this,” John Boyd, founder and president of the National Black Farmers Association, said in response to the proposal, which the president said would “reduce prices for Americans while giving space for our Great American Beef Herd to grow again.”

You weren't supposed to tread on me. 😭

Ranchers deserve to experience absolute ruin for all of the evil they supported when it didn't touch them.

"It's an emergency now!!" He stole nearly 3 billion dollars from the American people, but now he's stealing millions from us. Have the days you voted for you fucking bigot cowards. Ranchers are the real screw worms, because they're parasites suckling off the government teet while they cry about big government. I hope it dries up and you become just like most gen z and millennial without a single sq ft of property or money to your names.

The fucking farm kids that ended up in my workplace are the worst fucking assholes I've ever met.

They bitch and moan about the union, refuse to join it, and accuse unions of being too political. They don't trust the government and that's fine. But then they bitch and moan about the new contract. Mother fucker, they shafted us because we're at record low membership and they can get away with murder. As if the union wasn't fighting tooth and nail for a better contract.

Who do you trust more? The guy with his name on the building or the men and women working alongside you? Turns out, it's the guy with his name on the building.

You don't have to go full vegan or vegetarian. Reducing beef intake without giving it up is better than nothing. Even swapping to chicken or pork for a meal or two a week will impact your big picture water usage more than you'd think.

    This is the way.

I had steak for the first time in like two years yesterday, it was incredible. It was a whole event, a good time all around

Then I picked up some produce and now I just started soaking some beans to cook for the week

A hardliner position is pretty much the least effective method imaginable to win people over. I'm convinced it's enemy action

You don't need to make people vegetarian, you shouldn't even put a vegan label on things. You just have to normalize not eating meat every meal

I'm like 80% vegan. Still do bacon and eggs on the weekend and sometimes chicken with dinner. Even if everyone in the U.S. only became 50% vegan it would be pretty huge.

I feel like so many people think it's an "all or nothing" type of thing. Where either you're 100% vegan or you don't even bother with it.

I've been replacing the minimal amount of ground beef we use with bison because it's good but also because I live with picky motherfuckers who won't eat Morningstar crumbles even though they taste fine to me.

Its ok, they'll magically forget when Trump's socialist "look the other way" bailout bribe comes in before the midterms.

You hired representatives that refuse to question or investigate Trump. You'll keep getting fucked until you start voting Democrat.

The best part is that it's not going to hurt those farmers at all. What it will affect is the quality of beef for the average consumer, since they're probably getting much lower grade or even rejected meat other countries don't want. So still getting faces eaten, but it's not the farmers. If you want an example of very thorough welfare, look at agriculture. Yet they're the loudest shouting.

    Lol.

I hope these welfare queens are hurting bad. I hope it destroys them. To be honest, I'm not sure I trust the food I eat coming from such simpletons.

How is importing this cheap beef supposed to lower the grocery costs for those of us who don't consume beef?
