I recently heard a take of "what boomers don't understand about millennials and younger generations is that we don't expect anything good to happen ever again." I've talked to a lot of friends about this and the general consensus is "...yeah" not a single person has disputed it, even a little. When I mentioned this to my dad, he complained that his social security might be reduced in the next few years.

In no particular order, from where I am:
- Linux/FOSS
- Renewable energy
- Crime rates
- Consumer protection laws
- Furry cons
- Vegan & vegetarian products
- The AI bubble (slowly)
- Left-wing parties
I'd argue the AI bubble is still getting worse, just more slowly
Why do you think Linux and FOSS are getting worse? It's an enormous ecosystem.. hard to say one way or the other, but there are a lot of really good mature products right now.
I think they're responding to the original image which states "Is there anything that isn't getting worse?"
I agree. Things are NUTS right now but there's some truly incredible stuff going on in the open source anything space, and I'm happy to be here for it. :)
No no, these things are getting better in my opinion, in Germany/EU at least!
If you want some good news: the earth is greener than it was 20 years ago. About 5% greener, mostly due to big tree planting projects in India and China, but also due to de-desertification efforts on the edges of the Saha, Forrest restoration in the Americas rewilding efforts in Europe (which are also introducing native wildlife back to Europe like wolves, bison and beavers) and even the redesigning of urban centres to include more green space.
Is it green enough to offset the amount of people & pollution from billionaires that we have now vs 20 years ago?
Don't be silly, the fentanyl market is booming, and military spending is through the roof!
On a side note, I don't know who this guy in the suit is, but check his hard drive.
I just want to know why Jack Napier from Batman's 1980s flashbacks has a podcast?
It will continue to get worse because humanity has failed. God stays in heaven because the devil has won.
Emulation.
Uhh, theres good indie games...Foss projects.
Is there more? Maybe medical advancements no one can afford.
Linux GAMING
That is what people have been saying since ancient Greek times
So much is getting better, social media and negativity bias in general is just making it seem like it's not.
Just for example, percentage of green energy is steadily rising. Even if it is not fast enough, that is still a constant improvement.
it's the hopelessness that gets to most of us, it certainly does to me. as you said not fast enough, all the good efforts exist sure but none of them seem to be able to outweigh the negative actions.
and even when good actions start happening i get the thought of "so we could've done that the entire time... but we just didn't" (i hope the NYC Mayor somehow becomes the president of the world, please)
Mainstream news are all negative. If you are struggling to see a light at the end of the tunnel, try to look up newspapers/publications with only positive news. A lot of them don't get reported at all by normal media.
I know it's strange to hear, but while I expect a lot of pain in the short term, I expect things will be better in the longer term (20+ years).
