I ordered a pair of headphones, decided I didn't like them and started the Amazon return. Around the same time I was selling some old PC parts on Facebook Marketplace because they were just sitting around collecting dust.

Guy buys my old CPU, pays for shipping, I pack it up. I also pack the headphones for the return.

You probably see where this is going.

Dropped both boxes at UPS without thinking twice.

Later I get a message from the Marketplace guy saying "hey man I think you sent me headphones."

Immediate stomach drop.

I check Amazon and apparently my "headphone return" is being processed at their warehouse.

The box I sent them contained a Ryzen 7 5800X.

So now some random dude has my headphones, Amazon has a CPU they absolutely did not sell me, and I've been talking to customer service trying to explain this without sounding like I'm running the world's dumbest refund scam.

The Marketplace guy is thankfully cool about it and agreed to ship the headphones back if I cover it.

Amazon basically told me they can't guarantee I'll ever see the CPU again.

TL;DR: Mixed up two shipping labels. Sent my Amazon return to a guy on Facebook Marketplace and sent Amazon a CPU instead. Might have accidentally donated a Ryzen 7 to Jeff Bezos.
