All of my grandparents were socialist/communist which trickled down to me being raised that way (wasn't until about 3 years ago that I actually started reading theory, but was exposed to the ideas all my life essentially since I had the privilege of growing up with all 4 being a constant presence). I'm also from a former Yugoslavian country, both grandfathers fought in WW2, one in Croatia, one in Montenegro. My grandmother still goes to a monthly meeting called the Union of Fighters which is retired or previously serving partisans.

One of mine was damn near the opposite. Door to door anti-communist type. 😬 But when you consider I'm a white Yankee, it's probably a common affliction within that demographic, especially during the height of the Red Scare. Nowadays the same type would probably be posting daily about it instead of going door to door.

One of my grandfathers was a committed communinst. He was born in abject poverty in a tiny village. The socialist government radically improved his conditions and it made him loyal for life. Sadly he died when I was in primary school so I never got to talk to him about it. I just know what my parents told me about him.

The grandparents on the other side of the family are sadly virurently racist anticommunists. Grandmother proudly told me how her family hosted a nazi officer during the war. Cut contact with those assholes a long time ago and it improved my life significantly.

Seeing as my family is from Belarus, everyone in my lineage was either a member of the party, or better yet, fought in the Great Patriotic War.

Sadly best I can do is settlers & at least one Nazi collaborator (the extent of which is nebulous & largely a mystery, though he would've been ~14 as if that changes things). I have some more distant relatives that lived in the USSR & later moved to Germany in the nineties but I don't know much about them other than one of my uncles drove a truck in the army since he is a pacifist and that same uncle was able to attend a seminary in moscow.

My parents' generation is extremely reactionary but i think one of my grandfathers may have been a communist, or at least generally aligned with communist ideals since he worked in a position that required some ideological education back in the socialist era. He was still sympathetic to Russia/the USSR when i was growing up and i could tell from our conversations he had a fairly Marxist/materialist world view in some respects. No party members unfortunately that i know of, but maybe there were some in my extended family and nobody told me because it became fashionable to deny ever being a communist after the counter-revolutionary coup.

Unfortunately no. I have one family member who's been to the zionist entity(Great-grandfather) I don't know my biological father's family history very well. he's Filipino and his mother is an immigrant from the Philippines(I've talked about my stepfather several times. It's confusing, I know). I hope his side of the family had resistance fighters against Japanese occupation during WW2.

No communists sadly, but I’ve got a couple commited union members in my family. My grandma still talks to this day about the strike she was in with her bus driver union and my parents have been loyal union members for years

Also I’m also fairly sure he read theory to me when I was younger, or at least someone did. Because when I read Mao’s work, my first thought was that it was definitely not my first time reading this.

One in East Germany and a few in Communist Hungary. I am from the United States, so most of my family members are Republican and very anti-communist.

My great great grandfather had his farm collectivized in the early USSR and was salty about it. When I visited a relative and looked at the old family album there was a photo of orthodox priests doing the Nazi salute, what that was doing in there I can only guess. My grandfather at least from what I know was more neutral about the USSR and traveled there to meet relatives.

I had a great uncle (after whom I was named) in the partisan forces against the Nazi's. They got put in one of the concentration camps, so I have a record of their courage. Luckily for them they got out alive. As far as I am aware, no direct members of any particular parties. I definitely have a full spectrum of good and evil in my ancestry, especially on my USian side. Much to atone for, much to live up to.
