It's because they can't actually stop AI from producing it.

So we're all under agreement that, the time he accused that diver who saved the kids in Thailand of moving to Thailand to molest kids, it was a confession that Musk has gone to Thailand to molest kids, right?

    And the transphobia.

I find it deeply sus that people who think Brock Turner should be above the law and unironically support the legalization of sexual assault …also accuse every trans person of sexual assault.

Why hasn't the US government just passed a bill that lowers the age of consent to 10 years old for anyone with a net worth over $100 million?

    Would be redundant

They need to play the "good cop, bad cop" routine. If the working class understood that every single member of the bourgeoisie is completely reprehensible, then they might develop class consciousness. But if enough of them pretend to have a soul then they can get the working class to fight amongst ourselves instead.

They get away with it because of the people who either believe the lies or choose to along with the lies. I don't think this would continue to work for long if they were actually honest about it.

That still leaves a problem of getting consent.

I remember a case where somebody got away with (cw: necrophilia) necrophilia because there was no law against it, presumably because no legislator wanted their name within a mile of corpse sex, even for being on the right side of the "issue."

And then a non-Minnesotan with existing image problems to put it mildly decides to weigh in in favor of aicsam in that state.

So we were on our way to the (cw: necrophilia) necrophilia convention and my friend said he was hungry and asked if I wanted to take a detour for some (cw: cannibalism) cannibalism and I was like sorry man I already packed some crackers and (cw: cheese) cheese for lunch. Maybe next time?

    Absolute nasty ass.

These are the same pigs that think they should decide certain identities are so yucky they should be criminalized.

Fuck Elon. Also this is kind of useless as you would need to ban AI to begin with. There are several downloadable models that can produce smut and I would be surprised if they could not do CP. But most of us agree that our legislators won't really do jack shit to help anyone, let alone fight child abuse.

With enough time anyone can learn how to produce smut and it's inevitable, but it wasn't as easy as asking grok to do it, and any barrier of entry imho is welcome. Especially since dumdums use another persons' server in the open to do it. Trying to limit commercial LLM's capabilities to provide Smut-as-a-Service would cause them additional costs, create grounds to sue them and further desacrilize AI hype.

I am not saying that the goal is a bad one. It is a no brainer. I guess I just have less trust in the effectiveness or willingness of any of the two parties to do meaningful regulation. This feels more like an effortless propaganda move (look we "save" the kids, which our enemies want to eat). Both parties play that game without ever really changing any rules of the system. Yet we too fall for the trap of cheering them on. To summarize, this smells like a nothing burger, painted to look like a win.
