Was your theater inside of a giant wooden horse by any chance?

If you can't get a seat, just Troy and Troy again

That made me do a horse laugh

I was in the opposite theater as this one and, let me tell you, I've never had an easier time being in a phalanx. Absolute push-over roster, their collums aren't even symmetrical.

I asked one of them and they told me there were only a few Greeks and at least two thousand Persians in the theater.

so how is the movie? Is it woke?

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 20 points 5 days ago

it was filmed in the occupied western sahara so probably not very woke, and more trans drone pilots woke at most.

[-] Moss@hexbear.net 12 points 5 days ago

its only woke in so far as it has brown people and a trans man in it. it doesn't have enough to say for it to conciously be woke or not

[-] Goblinmancer@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago

Odysseyus is like bronze age oppenheimer

[-] Moss@hexbear.net 7 points 5 days ago

Unironically the movie tries to end with an Oppenheimer "what have I done, I've unleashed war upon the whole world" monologue. But it's not good lol

Haven't seen it yet. The theaters near me have been slammed. Might wait for a midweek matinee.

You have to ask whether a not whether a movie based on an ancient Greek poem that burns out all the ancient Greek historical/mythological context so you're just left with a story about a warrior killing people in the east and returning home and killing everyone who "sullied his house" and then crying about it, all released in 2026 right wing hellworld and catering to those "people", is woke or not? Not to mention them chucking plastic skeleton props into environmentally protected areas of an Italian sea and leaving them to decompose and poison the environment?

What do YOU think the answer is going to be?

[-] kleeon@hexbear.net 2 points 4 days ago

So it's woke. I knew it
