I was luke-warm on live-action Disney films in general. The only one I got out of the house for was Lilo and Stitch.

I know its not much, but for what they did to the ending they can fuck right off. I dont watch live action Disney remakes anymore.

They could make a badass Atlantis or Treasure Planet and I'd still boycott it.

I can put up with lazy but I draw the line at completely changing the moral of the story.

Edit: I might be persuaded with a live action Road to Eldorado though...for...reasons.

You're in luck, Road to El Dorado was DreamWorks, not Disney

Disney's gotta pivot, and start making animated remakes of all of the live-action remakes

[-] dustyData@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Disney needs to be broken up into a million little pieces.

We're going to end up with some weird glitchy movie like when you put an image through JPEG compression too many times.

Moana: datamoshed version

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 3 days ago

Moana was obviously something they should never done, just because ROck WANTED slop.

You joke, but the title of this article seems to think people don't like that it's live action, I don't think that has anything to do with it, it's entirely that it's just a blatant cash grab remake that no one asked for or wanted.

Some exec thought to themselves about a way to make the most money with the least risk and effort and decided on doing a bunch of live action remakes. That's literally all the thought that went into these lazy turds. The sad thing is that most of them paid off.

Meanwhile other IP's are embracing animation and it's made for some amazing work, and so much easier to produce. (The Witcher, Marvel, Star Wars, Dragon Age, League of Legends, etc. etc. etc.)

I'm looking forward to when we eventually get a Game of Thrones animated series.

Screw a game of thrones anime untill we get the sixth book.

It's never going to happen.

BUT, there are tons of little stories in Fire and Blood and A World of Ice and Fire to fill ten seasons of an animated show, like that of the Scarlet Shadow or Saera Targaryen.

Yeah, maybe they'll have an LLM finish it. :D

There may be a bug with the linking. It links to another .world url instead of the article. I'm using the default mobile web interface of Lemmy.

Thanks. Having to go through lemmy.world also means having to go through cloudflare, which is blocked at my site.
