This doesn't sound right but I don't know enough about dinosaurs or asteroids to dispute it.

When reached for comment, preteen boys agreed it was "kick ass", after looking around to see if any adults were in earshot.

No, we'll have to keep trying

Why would bringing back non-avain dinosaurs kill the avian dinosaurs?

[-] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Hey, you know birds aren't real, right?

Based purely on the thumbnail and title, I thought this was going to be a joke about a tiny clone of Earth being the asteroid and wondered how the heck that would work as set-up and punchline.

And even though that's not actually what's going on in the image, I still kind of want someone to make the wrong interpretation work.

Speaking of the antipode of Chicxulub, the Deccan Traps formed at about the same time.

That would be wild…an asteroid returning fossils (surely fossils were blasted into space, not that I’m suggesting anything balsted into space can fossilize.)

[-] Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

Anything that made it to space as ejecta from the KT Asteroid impact did so as molten debris
