In May 2021, the Guardian reported that Julian Chandra – then vice-president for growth at LBRY, now CEO of Odysee – told employees in an email that “being a white nationalist or nazi isn’t grounds for removal. Are you nazi that makes videos about the superiority of the white race? That is NOT grounds for removal.”
Ehhhhhhh.....
On one hand it is a shame to remove alternatives to YouTube. Odysee had RSS feeds and I never had much trouble with the player. On the other hand I never understood why they tried to tie it into the blockchain or cryptocurrency. I didn't understand how that helped either users or the creators.
Some folks have stated in other places that Odysee is a separate company, but I remember when Odysee was launched by LBRY. I mean, maybe Odysee will still be around, how are they going to make money without LBC?
I noped out of LBRY when they started down the conspiracy nut route and really stepped out when it was clear they were more interested in crypto than content.
In a 2019 blog post, the LBRY founder, Jeremy Kauffman, touted the protocol as “the most censorship-resistant system to ever exist for the purposes of publishing digital content”

Unfortunate, I used odysee a lot and no other youtube alternative came close to replacing it. I liked that rhere was a watch on odysee plug-in that would tell me if a youtube creator was on odysee.
