The term "work family" always seems like a huge red flag.

Every company wants you to think if them as a family. I lost one company I thought of as a family, and I’ll never think of another as a family again.

Bingo. If you have to work in a capitalist system you have to be just as willing to throw your employer under the bus for profit as they are willing to throw you under the same bus for the same reason.

I feel like "we're a family" just begs for a "you don't fuck your family, but you're fucking me with this low pay" reply.

Wages are such fucking bullshit. There is a dairy manager who I work with whose been here for 20+ years. And she makes the same as me whose been here for 3 years in january. Im about to quit as soon as I find a place to go.

And out poor cleaning lady has been here for 25 years and makes 9 fucking dollars an hour. This company should be sued.

And those same pieces of shit fucking those people have the gall to talk about loyalty when people leave for better, I bet.

Oooh we have to watch anti union propaganda every couple of months. Its fuckin bullshit.

To be fair, a cleaning lady who has been cleaning for 25 years, isn't going to be that much better than a cleaning lady who has been doing it for one year.

I'm a sucker for pizza parties though :/

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean... pizza parties are great! They just aren't a good replacement for being paid.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pizza parties for me have either been where

  1. I work in service industry and am allowed to grab a slice but I must eat it at my desk and keep working

  2. I work in technology industry and my boss is well aware we're going to have to work through lunch for the 3rd day in a row because of massive outages and orders pizza

  3. Sales is coming into the building and they're celebrating with catered lunch but we get pizza as a consolation

Get stale old pizza because they only ever get the pizza for morning shift and you are only allowed to eat it on your scheduled breaks.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Eat their pizza and unionize anyways

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Have your pizza and unionize too!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Better yet, add pizza parties into the union contract

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Now we're thinking with ~~portals~~ unions

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

My boss promised me a big pizza party if we finished a big project. We finished it months ago, and we're even making some progress on the stretch goal. No pizza party...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Make more money elsewhere and hold your own pizza party with the extra money.

don't forget:

Being responsible for online ratings for quality of service in an understaffed workplace (and the staff that is there has settled for a wage that doesn't support a 1 bedroom apt and a car).

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

You should have added "must be available to work all weekends" or have one weekend day off (Sunday) and another week day off (like Tuesday)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

or you get benefits but everyone is coded part time at full time hours so it's difficult to have them

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Don't forget: "accept terrible treatment from management"
