He could give them all a livable wage and still have more money than he'll ever be able to spend.

[-] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 11 points 3 days ago

Exactly. We act like treating humans as shitty as possible is the normal nature of things, but that's just because it's what people like bezos want.

In their mind making these people suffer and constantly keeping them on the verge of becoming homeless is desirable because it keeps them too busy to fight for an improvement of their condition.

He'd spend more on union busting than he would just paying people more after negotiating with a union

No, we're not. You "vilified" yourselves. We do think you all should die painful deaths tho and hope for it. But technically, we're not vilifying you, that was on you.

[-] derry@midwest.social 7 points 3 days ago

Not enough of us think that yet

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

How many more do we need thinking about it until that reaches a catalyzing point?

My bet's on the US guttering to an ember (or, the opposite extreme, which is similar levels of bad) before we get anywhere near "revolution".

From what I understand it's about ~~10 or 11%~~ 3.5 percent of a population before major societal upheaval will start. I may be slightly off on that number, though close to it.
My bad, was fairly off the mark.

So in the US about 11.5 million need to be thinking along these lines.

Here's an idea... If a company has a single worker that qualifies for government assistance, all tax exemptions are void.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 days ago

That gets dicey real quick, considering disability is government assistance, so unless you're also wanting privatized disability care ๐Ÿคซ

(because we can totally trust our employers to provide the best, most unbiased medical care to the vulnerable, yep)

[-] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 1 points 3 days ago

Ah see, I don't consider Disability as government assistance like SNAP and WIC. I consider disability as part of an actual modern Universal Healthcare solution. Disability fundamentally is a healthcare issue not an employment issue, even though the crossover is pretty large because of our fucked up system.

Your employer doesn't have any control over your disability (unless they caused it, but that's a different issue outside this). They shouldn't be punished for that. But hiring employees at a wage so far below a realistic livable wage that they qualify for programs like SNAP is 100% within the company's control. No one working a full time job should be close to qualifying for those programs.

1.) Disability isn't just workers comp., and assuming it's injury-based or in-born is imprecise as well.

2.) Allowing employers to "pay" such criminally low wages is one thing, but failing* to enforce anti-discrimination laws re: disabilities, et al, is a whole 'nother ball of shit.

*/ the system is working exactly as intended, fyi

3.) I agree with the rest of your statements, though. ๐Ÿ––๐Ÿผ

Nice to see them shitting their pants. But we need to do a whole lot more. Just listen to what this delusional cunt is saying. He needs to see what the world looks like through the hole of a guillotine, I bet he would understand everything immediately.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago

Or, we'd all have popcorn, watching while he doesn't, but finally.

Same result. ๐Ÿซก

[-] Rothe@piefed.social 6 points 3 days ago

You can't villify villains. They already done it themselves.

[-] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

We are, but we're right, ABAB. And, fuck you, Jeff Bezos. Fuck you very much.

[-] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

You shouldn't vilify villains.

You should guillotine them.

[-] lobut@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago

Not even close to enough. They control the media.

They've taken over the government.

The fact that we're not Luigi-ing each and every one of these guys means we're not doing enough of what they deserve.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

Ooh, that's a fun one ๐Ÿ˜†

[-] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Billionaires are literally vilifying themselves. This is just being a mouthpiece for one of them.

[-] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago

It'd be hilarious if him or Zuck or Musk or someone that level were the next victim.
