RCS is still behind iMessage idc idc

I’m an android fanboy and a current iPhone user because everyone in my immediate family. But this is so devious and smart of Apple. They let Android/Google get everyone hyped on RCS and encryption and all that jazz.

Now Apples gonna come along on the heels of Google help with the universal profile then say “Encryption doesn’t work because of Googles proprietary non standard RCS”. Making Google the bad guy forcing them to do work to make their implementation work with the Universal Profile better.

Rather: Apple will support official RCS rather than Google’s proprietary flavor of RCS. Will work with GSMA to add end-to-end encryption to the official standard

Why didn't google make a iMessage of their own, was it too patented? They have billions more customers on Android than Apple, which is also billions, but less billions.

This is the way. Build it into the actual, universal spec. Not Google’s Bs.

Want quality messaging features? Buy a real phone. Not those trash androids. Apple shouldn’t have to support inferior protocols just to appease Google

It's kinda funny that Apple is supporting the more open extension than the propietary extension

(Yes I know they would not want to use their competitor's protocol, I'm just pointing it out at a surface level since Apple is typically depicted as being very proprietary and closed-source)

They're very proprietary and closed-source with their own stuff. RCS is not their stuff.

Why are there so many posts about this RCS thing. I feel like a boomer but who the fuck cares

Lots of people? Just because you don’t give a fuck doesn’t mean it isn’t important, narcissist.

We can finally send images and videos to Android users who refuse to use anything other than SMS/RCS that don’t look like absolute garbage

Or it's just US iPhone users who refuse to use 3rd party app which is cross-platform and being used by the rest of the world.
