On the eve of his 100th birthday on 8 May, Sir David Attenborough shares a message for us all:

"I had rather thought that I would celebrate my 100th birthday quietly, but it seems that many of you have had other ideas. I’ve been completely overwhelmed by birthday greetings from preschool groups to care home residents and countless individuals and families of all ages.

"I simply can’t reply to each of you all separately, but I would like to thank you all most sincerely for your kind messages, and wish those of you who have planned your own local events tomorrow, have a very happy day."

Man, I sure as hell hope that he is exactly as much of a chad as he seems to be. I’d be devastated if after he kicks the bucket that some stupid allegations come out.

Just let us have this one, please

Right? The fact that a good guy can make it to 100 gives me a little more faith in humanity. It’d be a shot to the heart if something nasty came out about him. We need at least one good human lasting this long to keep our hopes going. Please universe, we need this.

Im sorry if I sound unhinged but theres literally no fucking way hes done anything untoward and anything that comes out posthumously ill be treating as bullshit attention grabbing and attempts to somehow profit from his estate or something similarly fucked in the skull

Sir David Attenborough is damn saint and a hero

This man is a treasure. An educator and a role model.

Anybody doing anything fun to celebrate? I'll be getting high as fuck and watching planet earth 2

I would have loved to have been able to meet him and spend time talking with him when he was younger. His voice is basically THE voice that's synonymous with nature documentaries for me. I mean, I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to meet him now, but I feel like his time on this planet is very limited at this point, and it would almost feel selfish of me to take up any of what he's got left.

It always blew my mind that they had fucking Oprah do the voice work for the American release of Planet Earth. Disgraceful

This is like mozart writing a symphony and then asking Ai to remake it for tiktok.

Shortly after the photo was taken, David's tongue flew out, wrapped around the little mouse and dragged it into his reddened maw.

God, I love him.

Here.....we see the brilliant and resplendent Davidicus Naturae, exploring the local flora and prepared to discuss their majesty.
