I'm not pointing at the post this links to, or the reply I've linked to, but the surrounding context, including replies from the moderators telling them they're not welcome.

But seriously, I haven't seen this problem (since Wolfballs died), and it's probably because I rarely look at All instances or scroll to the bottom of huge threads. Or maybe .ml has blocked where these bigots hang out? I really don't know, just guessing here.-

A phenomenon recognized by other artists as well.

damn, imagine being exposed to the worst redditors alive.

couldn't be me - i'm so powerful the hitlerites had to hide me from view as a "preemptive last resort"

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 51 points 1 week ago

just “don’t be a dick, leave other human beings in peace” kind of common sense.

I would, but feminists didn’t leave atheism (2012) and then gaming (2014) alone. Probably other things before 2012 when I wasn’t aware, and now we are here.

How do these people still fucking exist? I can't fathom anyone not outgrowing thunderf00t and The Amazing Atheist at this point.

[-] Hermes@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

I can't fathom anyone not outgrowing thunderf00t

Including thunderf00t himself, seemingly. I can't find any SJW videos since 2018, it's mostly just anti-muskrat stuff now.

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

He quietly moved away from the anti-SJW thing, trying to make people forget he was all in on anti-feminism and hating Anita Sarkeesian, that was his whole thing for years, so fuck him.

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

didn't TAA outgrow TAA? or am i thinking of someone else

[-] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah I think he turned lib and actually made a video addressing his past mistakes. Thunderf00t also pivoted from being the #1 Sarkeesian hater to the #1 Musk hater, which is definitely a more deserving target, but he just quietly shoved his anti-feminist past under the rug.

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

Did he ever address the disgusting things he said about SA, including directly to an SA victim?

[-] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago

No idea. I never watched a single full video from either of these people.

Looking into what no good feminist were up to before 2012.

[-] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago

That's why I stopped looking other game communities in lemmy beside the one in hexbear and .ml. There's always someone like this idiot commenting.

posts in lemmy instance that tries so hard to be the next r*ddit

is surprised that it's full of r*dditor losers

[-] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 41 points 1 week ago

From personal experience posting my content on multiple platforms, Lemmy’s userbase is by far the most fragile one regarding sexism.

Yes, even worse than Reddit, where this very comic had its comment section locked by the rcomics mods due to the hundreds of pissed off dudes crying in the comments. At least they get downvoted on Reddit. Lemmy really is dudebro land, and needs to fix that if it wants to grow further (which I would like as a Lemmy enjoyer).

I’ve said this a few times already, and it usually makes Lemmy users uncomfortable, so I’ll keep repeating it as often as necessary.

yea i believe it, i didnt post it in slop/dunktank when it happen but west lemmy had a huge drama about the meme of "would you rather find a bear or man in a forest" feminists did, they literally started crying about misandry and being sexists and harrasing every woman lemmy they could find because of a meme

[-] Midnight_Pearl@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

some of the most ridiculous misogynistic "erm actually men are the real victims so shut up about your oppression" takes i've seen have come from lemmitors

i honestly wouldn't be on this platform at all if not for hexbear and lemmygrad; every other instance is either terminally MRA or just doesn't care to take action against incel bullshit

[-] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

I'm a man and I'd rather encounter a bear in the woods than a man. Men are by far the most dangerous and unpredictable demographic. You at least know how a bear is going to behave.

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

if we take the hypothetical literally i think it depends on the type of bear and whether you're in the woods in the woods and are suddenly less than a meter a way or if it's coming down the trail at a safe distance etc

there's definitely overlap though which is the point. rather be 20 meters from a black bear than 20 meters from a person i didn't expect to be in the same county, rather be 2 meters from most weird woods guys than 2 meters from a grizzly, but not all of them.

Just like when that meme was going around I feel the urge to say that I also pick the bear.

[-] Poutine@hexbear.net 37 points 1 week ago

The comments on that thread are terrible. Why did I click? Why am I still reading?

[-] Poutine@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago

Sometimes I forget that the average man is like this. Now I am forced to despair. How are we ever supposed to build a cooperative world when so many people have views like this?

[-] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

average internet commenter man, anyway. the people who would be interested in building that better world have other things to do. and some of those will still be sex pests but previous socialist projects have made great strides in feminism and they were doing it with the men of their day who were probably more eminently dangerous on average than the current bottom third.

[-] red_giant@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago

I just want to feel good about being a man for one day.

Maybe consider why you see yourself reflected in criticism of men

[-] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

Join your local Freemason's then you freak

[-] Inui@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Dumbasses never get that a ton of places are de facto men only because of the environment they create. But also yes, there are literally men's social groups in my area that meet regularly to hang out and discuss issues relevant to them. Nobody cares. It's only men that freak out when they aren't allowed somewhere.

[-] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 30 points 1 week ago

I read way too much of that thread and then saw I was only like a quarter way down the page so I had to be done. How do people spend so much time reiterating the same arguments over and over? I didn’t read a single original or thought provoking take. It’s all just memetic back and forth.

Lemmy really is dudebro land, and needs to fix that if it wants to grow further (which I would like as a Lemmy enjoyer).

At the risk of being gender normative, a pink girly instance for women would be a kinda nice refuge and nothing that specifically aims to cater to women exists on lemmy at the moment.

To address the fact that every other space on lemmy is annoyingly male-dominated you would need to make a space that is women-only so that they can't fuck it up and turn away all the women.

Hexbear probably has the highest number of women as a percentage of its total userbase compared to all other lemmy instances.

[-] Dirt_Possum@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Coincidentally enough, since you mentioned it, a chunk of that thread was about the existence of a women's-only comm on lemmy, I didn't know it existed before either, and I am still not sure where exactly it is, but as could be predicted as surely as the setting sun there were numerous men complaining and/or raging about how they were politely asked not to comment there. To the credit of some, there were a few comments from men saying they accidentally commented there once, were asked not to, and happily obliged.

Edit. Seems to start here if you're interested:
https://lemmy.ml/post/46277482/25296584
Even includes the same comic PorkrollPosadist posted here.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

raging about how they were politely asked not to comment there

They should do it like SRS used to do it. brd

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

It's called WomensStuff and unfortunately it's on the piefed Blahaj, so you can't see it through Hexbear.

[-] Dirt_Possum@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I assumed it wasn't visible from hexbear, I was thinking it was probably on .world. But it's not like piefed is any better. Edit. But thanks for pointing out where it is!

[-] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

And the percentage is only getting higher as more of us transition, lol (I'm enby but still very girl)

[-] thelastaxolotl@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

I think that would be a great idea, but it would definently need a big mod team because it would get swarmed by misogynists from time to time

Or maybe .ml has blocked where these bigots hang out?

Those who can't handle the existence of anybody to the left of a socdem probably already pushed their instance of choice to defed .ml I'm guessing, or just avoid those comms. They definitely defed from hexbear and lemmygrad. Not that we've never had our our own problems with misogyny or other forms of bigotry, but at least lately it's nothing compared to these people.

[-] P1d40n3@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

Libs gonna lib

[-] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

Op posts a simple observation

Idk, encourage your admins to defederate from instances that do nothing about chauvinism

[-] Midnight_Pearl@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago

Or maybe .ml has blocked where these bigots hang out?

i wish it did but afaik it's still federated with incels.world
