There definitely needs to be a way to block an entire instance(or whatever they’re called, please let me know I’m new) my feed is flooded with post to communities on lemmynsfw

Uncheck the "show NSFW" on your lemmy.world (etc) instance and then it won't show up in your feed then the rules will apply on your Memmy app. I have a separate account added for my NSFW stuff

That’s not exactly what I’m looking for either. Not all NSFW posts are actual porn. That’s why it’s be preferable to just ban the porn instances.

But thanks for the suggestion.

growing pains of the new platform for sure. I find that I haven't missed much with my main account not allowing the nsfw settings as of yet. Id prefer the scrolling experience and finding new communities in the "all" page with the porn being disabled.

Sir. The internet is for porn.

An easy solution is to join an instance that has defederated from the nsfw instances. I don't have a link but it's easy to search for.

I'm not seeing them at Kbin but it could be that my account has it blocked by default over here.

Another way is just follows the communities that you want explicitly to follow and only show the post from subscribed communities.

That’s what I do.

I would do that but I like finding new communities.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Agreed. It's too "early days" to not be able to find new communities.

Connect for Lemmy can block entire instances

I've gotten tired of blocking the ones that come up on my hot feed. I don't mind that there is porn, I just don't want any of it showing up while I'm scrolling with family around or at work. Hell, even with friends around it would be awkward.

Memmy allows you to hide nsfw

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

Yes but this would be all NSFW posts, not just porn.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It also allows you to block communities that are porn-specific, which helps a ton.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Can you tell me how to get to that? Is it in settings or do you have to have the instance up?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

When you have the community up that you want to block, the “…” in the top-right corner brings up the option to block the community:

The only tedious part is that you actually have to go to the community itself, but you get used to it 🙂

Isnt there a setting to block nsfw content?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Only an option to Hide and Blur as far as I can find.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

And this doesn’t work if the post isn’t marked nsfw as I have the hide nsfw on am I still see nsfw posts.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I’m running into the same issue as you. I wish we had different NSFW tags for different content. NSFW for porn, NSFL for gore/violence, NSFWM(ild) (or something similar) for text/not necessarily full blown porn. It would make filtering much easier. Using just the one tag has been counterproductive.

You can block instances or just nsfw with connect for lemmy. I'm not sure about the other options.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Voyager PWA has an option to disable all NSFW. Does memmy have that option? Its been a while since I’ve been on that app.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah. That stuff needs to be blocked by default on all instances until they can get this sorted out.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I wonder if they have the same rules about marking nsfw on a nsfw instance? I wonder if I should report the posts?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

If it’s NSFW and not marked? Absolutely report it.
