I am excited to have found #Navidrome But it's apparently SO good that I am wondering if it's at risk of being corporatized after I've committed to building my offline system around it ๐Ÿค”

Its developed under GPL V3 so it getting enshitified in the same way a lot of other applications are going is much more limited. Not impossible but I imagine if they go to change the licence and shift it to a paid product you'd see a fork made pretty quickly.

Your fears are warranted, but navidrome is built as a server for the subsonic streaming api (opensonic) and there are a few projects out there doing the same, so there is natural competition there.

The releases are clear and well-defined,

I've been using it for a few years, it's been great.
