I was one of the American military who had access to classified information. I knew better than this. I've worked with enlisted members as young as 19 or 20 years old who knew better than this. When the head of the DoD, the National Security Advisor, Director of the CIA, the Vice President, and the Director of National Intelligence do this, it's not because they don't know better. It's because they're trying to hide their communications in violation of the Presidential Records Act, and they know full well what they're doing is wrong. ETA: And they also compromised a military operation putting the lives of American soldiers at risk, which would land me or any of my enlisted colleagues in Fort Leavenworth for an extended stay, so there's that.

Fired is the least that should happen. Several federal laws were blatantly, very obviously, violated. They should be sitting in a prison awaiting hearing, then sentenced to 15 years. This is worse than what Jack Texeira did.
Fired!? Heavens no, multiple people should be in jail. but best we can do is pardons and maybe a raise.
Starting with Stephen fucken Miller.
I hope I'm wrong, but my money is on most of them deciding early that there shouldn't be any punishments handed out. Susan Collins will swerve a bit with her answer to appear as a holdout, until she ends up towing the party line again, stating that they've "learned their lesson".
It's going to be a lot of "concerned" comments from both the senate and the house, but nobody is willing to put their votes where their mouth is.
They'll be wiping fascist cum off their chin again by the end of the week
This is NOT good! For the people Breaking with Trump! Who CARES if our Military Leaders BLATANTLY put American Soldiers and Civilians in Harms Way? Trump said it was OK and TRUMP is ALWAYS Right! I'm NOT in a Cult and I LOVE America!
Hawkish Republicans are standing WITH Waltz? Shouldn’t they be calling for a court martial, since he flagrantly violated long-established military codes of conduct?
Tensions within the GOP are growing, with hawkish Republicans supporting Waltz and Trump loyalists opposing him.

I am not seeing the fact that they had one week expiration on the messages or that not archiving these communications is illegal. Shady people doing shady things.
These people think rules are there just for show. They think they can do no wrong as long as they obey dear leader. It doesn't matter to them that with the amount of power they weild one mistake could cost human lives.
They don't deserve power. No one in this administration does. Trump hasn't even accidentally done something right this entire administration. It's like if he were walking in the rain and he purposely jumps in every puddle he sees.
What does break rank mean in this context out of curiosity?
Doing the bare minimum. A security incident happened. Make a report on how and suggest ways to resolve / prevent it.
No further consequences required.
The term “rank and file” refers to an army marching in a grid. Breaking rank is leaving the group.
So like legitimately swapping parties or just like performatively being ashamed of their party temporarily?
Honestly if you're anybody in the government with this bozo, just assume you're already going to get compromised.
