Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Nothing scarier to a conservative than a liberal woman with a gun. I'm in.

Good. As much as I am a proponent of stricter gun laws, you can't protect yourself from armed Nazis and bigots looking to hurt you with words.

But don't just buy a gun, learn to use and maintain it and take some actual training courses because I can tell you that as a hunter, shooting at a target is much different than actually shooting at a living being.

Watch the Republicans scram for gun control all of the sudden after screaming about the Democrats taking their guns away.

And it wouldn't even be the first time. They love the guns until they see minorities exercising the same rights as the white men and that scares the shit out of them.

I'd rather people be able to trust their local police for protection than want to rely on themselves but with the hatred and ignorance show but many people in power and much worst to come I can't blame demonized communities from wanting to protect themselves.

This is the plot of a Bojack Horseman episode, awesome show btw

Amazing show indeed. It's sadly more than a plot, it's what happened when the Black Panthers started exercising their 2nd Amendment.

Even if the police were trustworthy, they're usually not fast enough to interrupt crimes in progress, especially in rural areas.

True. On another note, I'm glad that people aren't just panic-buying guns but much more importantly training and building training communities.

I enjoy shooting as a sport but I can't say I feel compelled to integrate with the local shooting community. The tacticool bags with stupid Punisher skulls, patriotic flags, Confederate and Texan flags (in Europe...) don't really lead me to believe I want to hang out with most of these guys.

Police are kinda lazy.

Like they don't want to do anything until someone is severely injured or dead.

Also they take like half an hour to arrive, even in a city.

When a KKK mob is attacking you, you'd be dead before police arrive.

We need like a militia to patrol and protect neighborhoods.

That's a problem and not normal in many developed countries. But the USA has shown that cops just don't need to be accountable or competent if not straight up corrupt.

And being a minority seems to make contact with police and even dicier problem.

The prerequisites for becoming a cop in the US are almost non-existent. You mostly just need to have a high school degree or GED and to pass a drug test. Then there's something like three months of training, variable by jurisdiction.

At the same time, it's seen as respectable, has good pay and a great pension. Plus the benefit of being seen as an authority figure, which appeals greatly to many of the undereducated.

Like the military, it attracts the lowest common denominator.

Good. women, PoC, LGBTQ folks all need to plan.

Missing the next frame where they ban all guns and she's half sad that the country only passed gun control because they hate women

[–] [email protected] 4 points 17 hours ago

I also recommend a fire extinguisher of bear mace. Doesn't require accuracy, very effective, lesser legal consequences, easy to acquire. Be safe y'all.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 15 hours ago

I'm against guns completely. Intent to carry is intent to kill. I already carry pepper spray and after this election cycle, I'm getting a bodycam and a TASER. No license needed, legal in my state, and I don't go to prison as a transwoman for murder. I'd rather just die at that point.

Gonna start seeing a lot more desperate people over the next handful of years. Get a gun.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 17 hours ago

Women, immigrants, and queer people are seeing violence escalate now though. And we'd probably feel safer if they were only after our stuff.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago

That's exactly what I've been saying and that's the best case scenario.
