It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

"Authoritarian style of governance" fuck yuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Man it must be so easy to work for the NYT. Just churn out nonstop garbage that doesn’t actually mean anything when you think about it for two seconds every day and collect your six figure paycheck.

Seriously I want a job where I get paid to post dumbass opinions. It would be better than libs, too, because it would have some material analysis behind it, rather than just vibes.

Take a look at this motherfucker. I guess slavery and Jim Crow weren't """"authoritarian."""""

NYT would never stoop so low as to consider the lives of the… others

[–] [email protected] 50 points 1 week ago

Wow, even the NYT is memoryholing Trump's first presidency?

Someone just fell out of a coconut tree...

Libs have rehabilitated Reagan in their minds so he doesn't count.

It's been seen before but them getting the trifecta after running on a promise of deporting millions of people immediatly is gonna be fucking messy.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Been reading about the last time America did mass deportation (it was in 1954 and they named the operation after a slur) and we "repatriated" a ton of legal immigrants along with the undocumented ones. I feel like we're definitely headed in that direction again but bigger - although last time it was with the cooperation of the Mexican government, so we'll see what Sheinbaum has to say when the policy moves from theoretical to imminent.

We've already got the camps built (and maintained, thanks biden) to just throw all the people into if Mexico won't take them back.

And your right, I'm sure the republicans will apply they're usual even handed doscression when it comes to making sure they don't just assume every brown person is an illegal immigrant.

so we'll see what Sheinbaum has to say when the policy moves from theoretical to imminent.

Since the start of the Biden admin there's been a growing chorus among the Republicans who want to invade Mexico.

So did more folks vote for Trump this round or did less people turn out for the Dems?

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't think the 2024 numbers are finalized, but if the current numbers stay more or less the same then it was less turnout for Dems. Biden got 84mil votes in 2020 and Kamala only got 66mil. Trump had a slight dip as well going from 74mil in 2020 to 71mil this election.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 week ago

Kinda figured that'd be the case. Thanks!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

i mean there's way more left to count, really too early to judge turnout

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Trump got like 3 million less votes than 2020 (might end up being less once all the votes are counted)

Kamala got something like 14 million less votes.

Congratulations to Hillary Clinton for now only losing the SECOND easiest election of the century.

I think what's really striking is how close the "blue wall" states are, we're talking under 400k votes in the states that are winning Trump the EC. Harris could have performed way worse than Biden 2020, and still won a comfortable margin. But instead of performing way worse, she performed catastrophically worse.

Who could have guessed sending one of the countries most rabid zionists to tell Muslims in swing states their family deserved to be murdered without consequence wasn't a great strategy.

Oh right every single person left of Obama for the last year.
