I thought I knew what to expect after having experienced a deluge of takes on platforms like Reddit and Twitter, and yet, I was taken totally aback by some of the unhinged ones I've seen on here since the federation. From bog standard accusations of being bots or paid shills for disagreeing with them, to flat out disgusting claims that queer people on Hexbear are not really queer because they're not liberals.

I came to lemmy early in the reddit exodus, but too many god damn liberals came along and it's gradually getting worse. Hexbear has the only good anime community, so now I have to have another lemmy account

The lib hexbear experience is taking a seat in a cafeteria with a bunch of people to say the worst possible thing imaginable and the whole cafeteria stops to hold you accountable.

Had a moment of online culture shock when I recently saw people commenting on how gross eating ass is and assertions that all the talk about it is people being ironic and joking. Someone even had the gall to respond with “haha keep telling yourself that buddy” when someone said that people have been eating ass forever! Have you heard of the romans??
