So, one of the cool things about the fediverse is that you can follow mastodon accounts from Lemmy or kbin or any other federated site and vice versa. Pick the service that has the UI you want (Mastadon is Twitter like, kbin and Lemmy are Reddit like) and keep an eye on everything!

we may be losing that functionality when they switch away from websockets in the new version but not sure.

No I don't think so. But it might be in the works. Lemmy is growing super fast.
