Yes you have to sign up with personal info to create an account.
Verizon and the companies it owns (Straight talk, tracfone, total, Walmart family mobile) has an unlock policy where a device is fully unlocked 60d after activation. You can touch the phone all you want but it'll stay locked for those 60 days. On or around day 61 it'll be unlocked and you're free to use it on any carrier you choose.
It's not too good to be true. I've done it 3 times. Don't overthink it and just do it if you want a SE3.
Thanks so much for the info. A few more questions though.
Can you make up info? Since it’s a pay as you go type of plan, can I say I’m Bob Smith when I sign up and they won’t verify it? Or is it one of those credit check sorta sign ups and they’re going to ask for ID and such?
He already has a phone number. But he’s on a pay as you go plan with T-Mobile. So are you saying you get a new phone number when you start with Walmart, but in 60 days he can take out the SIM card and pop in his old one from his iPhone 6 and everything will be okay?
Thanks again.
I don’t live in the US but I can probably ask a friend to buy it for me. Will this process work for me too? I believe I won’t be able to sign up so how would that work? Or can my friend do it?
Is there a way I can ask my friend to buy the phone and send it to me later? Will it work?
