At some point some propaganda came out that this was "a festival for peace". Looks like CNN reported it but later retracted it. Damage already done as it got parroted by other media
You can just make up stuff, say it's from an "anonymous source", then retract it and maintain your credibility by blaming it on the source you made up.
In fairness, Hamas made a lot of them more peaceful
