I think they're also more than capable or recognizing the obvious that many or most of the (now hundreds) of hostages could be on sailed ships, so-to-speak. Hamas would ofc not hesitate to use them as human shields, though I've now seen alot of videos of hostages who have ended up dead. Israel is not going to be idealistic or put on kids gloves. They never have.
