Any reason you've got 64 GB of RAM? Not interrogating you. I just haven't found a reason to get more than 32 GB other than anxiety about future proofing.

And to be perfectly upfront, I just checked my home PC remotely, and only 16GB out of 32GB is in use. It's just running Salad to rent out my GPU at the moment.

I initially built for future proofing. I also wanted to have enough to run science apps like BOINC distributed science computing which I have been running since my Phantom II machine, 4K games, and now slightly dabble with local AI models. I would like to learn video editing some day as well.

I got right at the top end of AM4 and before all this RAM shortage craziness went down. Prices were just starting to go up so it was a bit to hedge too. I know 32GB is more than enough. I debate at times to take out 2 sticks (4x16GB) in case some ram goes bad, or slight performace boost, now that DDR4 is mostly outdated and good luck finding any for a reasonable price.

Probably not enough to care if you're paying for your electricity. I'm living in a sharehouse where utilities are included, so I get to keep all of the $2.25 to $2.75 USD that it makes me during the day. It would probably cost me 60-65p just to run the GPU for that long. My room is tiny and well ventilated, so my RTX 4080 Super generates enough heat to keep my room warm with the radiator turned off, so it's probably not costing my landlord much more.
