Listen to the Moomin episode of Throughline on NPR. It gives a good timeline and insight into some of the Finn’s’ different thoughts about it.

Yeah.....but there is a strong correlation between those types and people that the Soviets tried screwing with first. Idk if that should speak to a comparison of Soviet vs Nazi treatment of outsiders, but it does seem to invite the comparison.
