What's stupid is announcing that you'll support a party without a single condition. It's like going to a dealership and announcing that you'll be buying a car no matter what.

Your vote is a form of bargaining power, and if a politician won't stand up for your rights (and the rights of others), then you walk. You don't give up every ounce of bargaining power in exchange for nothing just because you're scared of a boogeyman (a boogeyman they helped create, I might add).

They want something from me, I want something from them. If Democrats want my vote, they should stand up for my rights.

someone that supports 95% of my rights

This is where we have wildly different assessments of reality. I don't see the Democrats as representing anywhere near that number.

You talk about "imperfections" and "95%" when the reality is that many of them aren't just imperfect but horrifically flawed, and it's a lot closer to 5% than it is to 95%.

Let's just take one single policy, for example. The Patriot Act. Widely supported by the Democratic party, both as an "emergency measure" when it was first enacted, and to this day, if it wasn't clear that those "emergency" powers were never going anywhere. Even though the law gives the executive so much power, they don't touch it even when Trump is in office. Under the Patriot Act, do you think we still have "95%" of the privacy rights we had in the 90's?

That's just the baseline. That's before even touching on all the Democrats who are especially bad, those who want to fund a genocide, or the handful like Turek who is openly campaigning on taking healthcare away from trans people.

So don't talk to me about "imperfections" or "95%," when the majority of the party leadership are straight-up fascists, with a veneer of politeness plastered over.

If Democrats want my vote they should stand up for my rights.
