He was best known for his role as Ensign Pavel Chekov on the original Star Trek series, but was also well known and loved by 1990s TV sci-fi fans as the recurring antagonist Al Bester in the series Babylon 5.

He'd frequently said in interviews that Bester was his favourite role, which I can completely believe. What a fantastic character.

I met him cause I was selling stuff at a convention when he was signing autographs and I noticed him walking by while packing up. Mentioned that I loved him in Babylon 5 and he lit up a little bit and said he was very proud of his work on that show. He was probably tired after doing 2 days of meet and greets but he still seemed happy to be recognized for that role
