I'm sorry, but can you please explain how the story told in Lanterns was incomplete?

The whole season was a super (maybe anti) hero origin story and he didn't get his powers till the very end. He got his powers in a way that makes you question how he's going to use them and what for. That screams sequel to me.

    • They introduced a new Manhunter right at the end, and left him alive.

    • Sinestro is still alive.

    • John Stewart's new lantern, crafted by Sinestro, looks corrupted, but wasn't yellow which raises questions. Right at the end.

    • His new oath was flawed and sounds like he's in service to the lantern itself. Again, created by Sinestro, so I'm sure that's going to go flawlessly. They also ended the season on that note.

    • We haven't seen how the guardians are going to respond to his takeover of earth. The lady seemed pretty sus and they never told us much about this new character they introduced.

Sure the small town murder mystery is solved and the first Manhunter dead, but the ending raised more questions than it answered. And it left a lot of the consequences of John Stewart's actions throughout the season unresolved. Idk why people always tell me it's an open and shut story when I say it feels incomplete. The stuff he did was world changing in universe with no follow up.

That season absolutely does not stand up on its own with no further story. Maybe it would if it was a murder mystery and not a super hero show, but the murder mystery was just a vehicle for the origin story of his powers. And Gunn has said he'll be in an upcoming movie, which confirms that for me. Don't get me wrong, it was great and I enjoyed it. But it's not a finished story.
