Officials said they wanted to search the phone of Samuel Tunick, a Stop Cop City activist, for child abuse material. It was actually because he was suspected of “terrorist activities.”

I think frustrated_phagocytosis is implying that they didn't need this lie since they could already search his phone, which fits with the pattern of fascists lying out of habit than out of strategy.

    No, they want to absolutely destroy this guy in every possible way they can. He opposed Cop City, and that makes it personal for the fascist pigs.

    (Source: I'm a local who was intimidated into keeping my distance from Stop Cop City specifically because of tyranny like this.)
