Hasan, who was left paralyzed from the waist down after being shot by law enforcement officers during the shooting at Fort Hood, now uses a wheelchair.

The US defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, said last week that the execution of Hasan would be a public event. Hasan’s sentence will be the first military execution in more than 60 years, and would have been the first in US history to be publicly broadcast.

In a statement to the Guardian on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Pentagon said Trump and Hegseth “spoke about the decision to not livestream Hasan’s execution” before Trump’s statement. Hegesth “supports the President’s decision, and they are completely aligned”, they added.

I appreciate your theory, but I don’t think trump found out anything or would remotely care. He’s so dementia addled, this guy’s execution was no more than jangly keys for a moment, and he couldn’t even tell you the guy’s name. He doesn’t even know the guy is in a wheelchair, because that would require more than a fleeting glance at what’s going on.

Ask him later today and he’ll have forgot this guy exists at all. It’s some dude who doesn’t matter at all because he’s not an investor or his daughter. Trump’s brain is literally Swiss cheese at this point. The people around him may be oppressing the disabled, but trump can’t because he’s forgot they exist at all.
