That's a damn fine book cover. I actually checked this book out for my school library when I was a teenager.

Read it in a weekend. Then I wrote a book report on it. Great book!

Cover's cool, but post the book report, dammit! 😁

I wish I still had it! I was in 7th grade and it was the first A- I ever got, and I was so stoked because I was a C student for most of my school career! lol

Thanks. I wish my younger self had kept that momentum and enthusiasm for education. Instead, I was more interested in banging cheerleaders and dreaming of a football scholarship. The scholarship never happened because I was just an average player, the cheerleaders brought drama, and by 19, I'd gotten my girlfriend pregnant and was working in a jacket-making factory to pay child support. So no college for me.

I don't regret having my beautiful kids, but I do regret not making better choices so I could've provided them with a better life. It all worked out in the end, and everyone is healthy and happy. But man, I really should've nurtured that high I got from that book report grade!

Unfortunately, nature works against us in that regard. Our bodies get the drive to procreate much earlier than when our brains develop the ability to fully consider consequences for our actions - it's unfortunately one of the very last bits to develop, usually around age 25.

Take pride in the fact you were mature enough to take your responsibilities head-on, tho! Well done.
