The opening text in Braveheart says Edward I "Longshanks" invaded Scotland in 1280 after the Scotttish king died. In reality, the king died in 1286, and Edward didn't take over until 1292, then precipitating the First Scottish War of Independence. Also, the lack of a bridge at the Battle of Sterling Bridge was pretty silly in hindsight.
