You can tell a person with depression they deserve to live with dignity while also telling them the world as it exists is cruel.

Deserve vs will get is different. This world is rough and you can be well meaning in saying "you deserve better" but to folks deep in pain this sounds not far from "you deserve better sure but suck it up".
