You know, this blatant virtue signaling bullshit - for the wrong side of history, no less - infuriates me to no end

Where was she on October 7th? How did that personally affect her?

Or better yet, where was she on 9/11? Was she in NYC like I was, watching a column of smoke rise a mile into the sky in my own fucking back yard, wondering why a school day turned into a building full of terrified teenagers wondering if their parents would come home from a work that was rather abruptly a new pile of rubble and what any of us had done to deserve it?

I never needed the slogan. I couldn't forget if I wanted to. I felt real fear and rage and for the first time ever in my life true blinding hatred for anyone who could do such a thing. But my city showed me better than that. We came together in a way that makes the train scene in Spider-Man ring more true than anyone not from there can really appreciate; you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us, and when there's a real need we will all be there to do the good, human thing. Because ultimately we are all human in one of the greatest cities to ever exist on the planet, and so why can't we enjoy it together?

I mourn for the innocence the entire world lost that day. That single excuse set all this bullshit in motion; Patriot act, citizens united, so on.

Bah. Just the ramblings of a cranky millennial approaching middle age.
