Click bait crap. The rest of the title says "but you can’t have it".

Only available in china.

I don't think that counts as clickbait. The US isn't the only car market, and in any case Americans deserve to see what the international market looks like. Maybe it'll make us start wondering why we don't have $15k EVs available here.

The clickbait is that the car would never be priced at $15,000 in the US. Nowhere does the title state it's only in China, nor does it say something like "equivalent cost of $15k".

Why wouldn't they use Chinese currency if they weren't trying to deceive? It's pretty common to show something for sale in the market currency with a conversion to the reader's currency.

They even do it further in the article..

    Ioniq V 540 Pro – 109,900 yuan ($16,400). Ioniq V 540 Max – 119,900 yuan ($17,900). Ioniq V 540 Max+ – 129,900 yuan ($19,400). Ioniq V 650 Max – 129,900 yuan ($19,400). Ioniq V 650 Max+ – 139,900 yuan (~$20,900)

    Slave labor.

But I'd still like to see these for ~$20k.

Saying that current Chinese manufacturing automation shits on Europe's and America's makes me a tankie now? You're right, that's objectively false and I'm just simping for their government. I fucking love governments, especially single party states, that's why I'm on db0

"The Chinese rollout comes ahead of a planned global launch."

So more accurately, currently only released in China but expected to be sent to Australia next then Europe and possibly Canada.

But no, Magastan won't get it thanks to illustrious leader. File that in the "nice things Americans can't have" box. You may have to shove things around to get it to fit. Box is getting full.

While pre-orders are open in China, they’re not open anywhere else… yet. Hyundai acknowledges that China is at the forefront of global mobility, and thinks its entry into the country’s EV market will help it succeed globally. Which means it does want to offer the Ioniq V to worldwide markets, but it doesn’t have a timeline for that yet.

This is entirely speculation with no source on them planning an international release. It's entirely possible they won't be allowed to produce it outside of China.

This is designed and manufactured by their Chinese subsidiary. Like every non-Chinese automaker other than Tesla, they're not allowed to fully own their Chinese subsidiary. Meaning if they sell these in China, BAIC gets 50% of the profit. If they start selling them outside of China, they'd be using a Chinese-sponsored design to compete with Chinese automakers (since they likely wouldn't want to produce and sell through Beijing Hyundai, but rather through Hyundai) globally. They'd probably be punished for that.

But this is also just speculation.
