Because the developer writes it's official when it's a fork of the official.

    They take the binary SteamOS image and add a different kernel and some other auxiliary stuff to port Valve's image to new devices.

    That's broadly similar to what Linux Mint does to Ubuntu or Bazzite does to Fedora. Sometimes this is referred as a remix instead of a fork.

    Thank you, I get that now. I was just originally confused that you called it unofficial, when he writes it's official. IDK why he writes it like that?

    This is Valve's official SteamOS for ARM

    That confused me until I read further.
    But you are 100% right that this is an unofficial adaptation.
