When we have an incident at work, there's commonly a 'root cause analysis' done after the fact to determine what went wrong. One of the first questions asked is 'what changed'.

In this case, revenue plunged after his name was attached to it. But he determined that it must be a sudden change in the building's condition that caused it, not the recent change.

Donnie needs to go back to learn how to run a business

Don’t kid yourself, he doesn’t really think that. He thinks we’re dumb enough to believe it after he’s been getting away with just making shit up until people talk about something else for his entire life.

And, by the time anyone can prove it’s false, it’ll be too late to do anything about it.

He probably doesn't know or care that his rationale for this is complete horseshit, and most normal Americans see right through it. He just wants to slap his name on something because even this idiot knows that no one else will do it when he's gone [1].

It's the same way most people see right through his bullshit claims about how a ballroom and an arch are about "national security".

[1] He has to have some dim awareness of just how hated he is. People cannot wait to tear his name off of shit.

I heard Pod Save America talk about melting down all the trump coins and using those to gild statues of Obama, Hillary, Biden and put them right on the property line of Mar-a-lago. 🤣

  • The Power of Positive Thinking, rule #2:

Think a positive thought to drown out a negative thought.

For our president's narcissistic purposes, a "negative thought" is anything that suggests he's to blame for his own actions. And a "positive thought" is any thought that makes him feel proud, blameless, or aggrieved. Anything that justifies his actions.

Negative thought: "The status of the Kennedy Center has plummeted since my name was attached to it."

Positive thought: "It's the condition of the Kennedy Center that's the root of the problem. It's not my fault. It's someone else's fault."

I think this twisted interpretation of rule #2 has some explanatory power for at least 50% of the obviously-counter-factual babble that comes out of this man's mouth. Maybe more. I think if you listen to him with this in mind, you'll recognize the pattern very often.
