…what? Parents created accounts for their children to grow into and eventually take over? Are they squatting and just keeping them reserved or posting as “hi I’m turning 1 - I love this smash cake!” - is this a real thing?

I worked for this weird lady who was then in her mid 40es who tried really hard to be 20. She had somwthing between 3 and 7 children and the oldest one was maybe 14. She was pretty proud to tell me that she has instagram, facebook, whatever accounts for all her children to gift them to their 14th birthday.

Her house was my personal nightmare. She had a lot of pictures of herself and her children on the walls, but all of them were heavy edited and filtered to death.

I had an acquittance who made a profile for her son while she was pregnant, profile picture was an ecography and she would sometimes post roleplaying as the baby. I'm glad we're not in touch anymore.

My sister had a baby young while in college. Her and the father split up not long after. The father's new girlfriend made an account for their baby. It was wierd. So wierd, and pissed my sister off to no end.

Yes, the girlfriend would post like she was the baby. It was, the wierdest shit.

I started college when Facebook launched. Yes, this is a thing that happened. There was a legal case where a girl sued her parents for making a Facebook profile in her name when she was a baby and posting photos without her permission.
