Let's be clear, they aren't saving anything by doing this. This is not conservation. They aren't breeding or reintroducing these particular animals to the wild after raising them in captivity. They have been extracted from the ecosystem. They are now pets. I wouldn't be so quick to pat humanity on the back when they are the proximate cause for there being a "remaining few."
