Puzzles are ok so far, gameplay is basic, story somewhat predictable BUT the visuals, sounds and atmosphere are unparalleled. This game has to be one of the best looking games I have ever seen and it does it through pristine attention to detail in every millimetre of the map. Like we’re talking down to the types of bin used, gas markers, pages on bulletin boards and expert application of Microsoft wordart. We’re talking down to subtle ripples on puddles from the wind and signage over sinks in the doctors practice AAAHHHHHHH.

Never has anything been such an accurate recreation of my memories put into liminal form ever that I cant help but stare in amazement.

Its also a decent silent hill game.

THEY MADE IT FOR MEEEEEEEEE

there's a release day review video and the reviewer noted this too, details are spot on for the era! there's a good focus on the things you mentioned around 11m 35s and you can see close-ups of the telephones around 13m 04s.

The first task in the game is topping up a prepayment meter under the stairs and having to go to the shop to grab the card which had me cackling. Years of doing that journey now immortalised in my favourite horror series.

Idk if this counts as a spoiler it's like the first thing you do
