"I did not come to abolish the law" is pretty unambiguous. Its also not that hard to understand. You can argue with me all you want about how Jesus isn't saying what he's saying. But it's very explicit
This gets to a core of why I deconstructed in the first place. Christian doctrine generally relates the original jewish scriptures as being a body of literature that points to Jesus and the New Covenant and that he's the Messiah.
You cannot disregard the "old testament" for the "new testament", because the Old defines the New. In particular, it defines what the Messiah was supposed to be, and what the messiah was supposed to do, and what would happen after the messiah came.
despite all the times in the gospels and elsewhere that are like "And Jesus fullfilled that prophecy by doing this thing"... Jesus failed every single one of those checks.
Even when Jesus is like "And this blood is the new covenant" or whatever creepy death-culty blood magic he's doing (luke 22,) Jesus is referencing Jeremiah 31, specifically verses 31-35.
the entire chapter is about the redemption and restoration of Israel; it's about the messiah, and how everyone is going to have plenty, and be joyful and there's going to be grace and stuff, and that in order to keep people going failing the old covenenant, god's going to offer a new covenant- that the law would be written onto people's hearts and that they would be unable to break the covenant because of it.

The Law Jeremiah is talking about is the Law of Moses. That's what will enter people's hearts and they'll follow until the end of times. That is Law Jesus is talking about when he says:
17“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
So please, do go on bashing "Fake" Christians as if their god wasn't an absolute fucking monster. Stop pretending like"progressive" christians are any better at understanding scripture. Their god still demanded the slaughter of untold numbers of pregnant women- by running them through with a sword- and the dashing of young babies and children against rocks. (the specific formula for that was grabbing them by the legs and swinging until their brains splattered everywhere.)
The progressive's god demands the stoning of trans and gay men and demands the subservience of women to men treating them as property, expressly allowing fathers to sell their daughters as sex slaves.
People like Talerico might be kind, decent people, who treat most everyone with dignity and respect... but that's in spite of their god. Their god would throw them into hell for their respect and dignity and kindness.
