I was being pressured to make my workflow ai centric when I was let go from my last job and I was one of only two people there who refused to put a high level of trust into what the chatbot was spitting out (it was making very clear errors and often was just hallucinating in superficially convincing ways.) I've heard they have gotten good at code generation but this was a different kind of engineering anyway and one where safety was a huge concern. I ended up being laid off probably in part because of that.

It legit boggles my mind that people are harrowing this as some sort of grand achievement. They’re supplying these things with unimaginable amounts of compute than asking them to make predictions based on an even more unimaginable amount of data

And it's still an unimaginably small sample of what it would need to operate accurately under the approach they're using.

What's the problem? We feed the computer the sun and it'll solve all our problems... Which will also include needing a new sun because of the aforementioned giving the sun to the computer to solve our problems. But don't worry!! It can fix it all for us!
