I have a home server running docker. I have a docker container for Gluetun and qBittorrent. Gluetun connects to my VPN provider and provides a tunnel interface for the BitTorrent client to use

You typically don't need any of that stuff besides a VPN. Just make sure to set your torrent client to bind to the VPN interface and you'll be good to go.
